Instructions to Download and Install (Synch) the PocketPC Version of “Fast Facts for Critical Care”

Requirements:

• Desktop PC
• PPC with Operating System 5.0 or “Mobile 2003”. (Contact us for older versions)
• Pocket PC software (Active Sync) installed in your desktop computer

Download our program to your PC:

1. After you click “download,” be sure to save the file, eFFPPC07.1, to your desktop.
2. Go back to our purchase screen and click on “Please click here to complete your order.” This will cause 3 emails to be sent to you:
   a. your receipt
   b. your password
   c. a link to the download (lasting just 24 hours) in case you were unable to download from our website or were interrupted in the process of downloading.
3. Have your password ready. Your password is on the receipt that we emailed to you after your purchase. (Check your spam folder in case the email was sent there instead of to your inbox).

Install (Synch) to your Pocket PC:

1. The download file is a self extracting zip file. The installation is a two step process. First you must install the book reader ‘eReader’ then you install our e-book, “Fast Facts for Critical Care.”
   
2. Follow these procedures for installing eReader:
   a. Connect your PocketPC device to your computer.
   (Note: We assume that you have already set up communications
   between your host computer and your PocketPC device.)
   b. Turn on your PocketPC device.
   c. Double click on the downloaded file eFFPPC07.1 (which you saved to your desktop)
   d. This will install eReader which will then become a program on your ‘Programs’ menu on your PDA. NOTE: If you have an SD card you will be given an option of installing to that card
   e. When this is finished, a new ‘Folder’ will appear on your desktop.
   That folder is called “eFFPPC07”
   
3. Follow these procedures for installing our Fast Facts eBook.
   
   a) Open the new folder “eFFPPC07” (located on your desktop). Identify 2 files:
   “BookInstaller.EXE” and “Fast Facts for Critical Care”
   
   b) Click on “BOOKINSTALLER.EXE”
   
   c) Select ‘Install Book’ and continue
   
   d) Select ‘Fast Facts for Critical Care’ then click 'OK'. (If “Fast Facts for Critical Care” is not listed, use the 'Browse...' button to find the folder containing our program file (eFFPPC07), select that folder by clicking it then click “OK” to return to the previous screen. “Fast Facts for Critical Care” should now be listed.)
   e) Highlight the book by clicking on it then continue. Our book will install to your PDA.
   
4. View “Fast Facts for Critical Care” on your Pocket PC:
   a. On your PPC “Start” menu, select “eReader.” A list of the eBooks that are in your Palm will appear. Select “Fast Facts for Adult Critical Care.”
   
   b. You will be asked to “name” your book. Enter your name.
   You will be asked to enter your “password.” Enter the password found on your receipt.
   
   c. eFastFacts will take a moment to load the first time, but will be instantaneous after that first session. The first page of Fast Facts will appear. The entire book is now in front of you. You can scroll down, all the way to the end, if you like, but we recommend navigation!

Please read the following tips for viewing eFF on your PPC:

• Scroll down until you see the Table of Contents, which lists all of the chapters.]
• Tap on a chapter. The chapter table of contents will appear.
• Tap on a subject. The subject will appear. Scroll down to read about the subject.
• If you see a “graphics” icon, tap on it to open it and to view it.
• To enlarge the graphic, press the “scroll up” control.
• To return to the text, tap “home” or press the “select” control.
• Icons on the screen and go-to menus will allow you to return to the previous page, or back to the book’s Table of Contents, so that you can select another chapter and another subject. The program also has book marking and note-taking features.
• eReader is free, but during the first 15 days, it will display a message that there are “only a few days left.” and that you should enter a registration code or password. This just means you can order additional features for eReader. You can ignore these messages (doing so will not affect the operation of eFastFacts), or if you are interested in the additional features, you can order by going to: http://www.ereader.com/product/browse/software.com.
